The connected laundry room. A simple concept with a lot of moving pieces. CSC Service Works stepped into the arena of building an Internet of Things over a decade ago when they engineered a means of connecting washers and dryers to the web and have found great success with their offerings in academia and large residential buildings ever since. In 2016 CSC decided to proceed with a much needed refresh of the Laundry View interface. Based on the project’s parameters I created a new user experience for their system. A fresh interface and greatly improved flow allow users to select their machine in as few as two clicks after an initial selection of their preferred laundry room. Understanding how long a machine has until its cycle is complete is highly intuitive and notifications inform users when machines are available.
